Bulbophyllum japonicum

Scientific name:Bulbophyllum japonicum

Produced in Taiwan, China and Japan. Plant size is about 3 ~ 5 centimeters. Pseudo-bulb is ovoid, about 0.5 ~ 1 centimeters, the top grows one leaf. Leaves are leathery, oval, about 0.3 ~ 0.45 centimeters long, the apex sharp. Scape extends from the pseudo bulb’s bottom, usually it is higher than the leaves, umbels have 2 to 4 flowers in bloom; sepals are ovate-elliptic, about 0.3 centimeters long, apex is short and sharp, with three veins; lateral sepals are lanceolate, about 0.5 ~ 0.6 centimeters, the apex acuminates in a long or short distance, with three veins. The petals are spoon-shaped, about 0.2 centimeters long, the apex rounded and blunt, with three veins; flower diameter is 0.5 centimeters; lip is fleshy, tongue-shaped, bends outwards, gynostemium’s shape is dentate, about 0.7 millimeters long; flower  life is 7~10 days. Flowering period is during spring ~ summer. Easy to grow.
